Subject: [Xansys] THERMAL STRUCTURAL COUPLING
Hello everyone .
I would like to see what effect has the heating of 3 engines on deformations of a 4-axis machine .
i Use the workbench and have a Layout CAD
[Image: http://i62.tinypic.com/o8xrox.jpg ]
I Duct Static analysis and thermokinetics ( imposing W / m ^ 3 that engines individually develope) singularly . I would like to couple them to verify Displacements .
how can i do?

Just to clarify--Does the signature rule apply when the question
makes no sense? Who'd want their sig line on that question?

Yes, and those struggling with English as tertiary (or less) language too.

Understandability is the guts of the problem. If the list can't make anything of the question, how's the guy supposed to make sense of the answer? I know I sounded snarky, but that post did no one any good—sig line or no sig line and even if someone had answered.

Sorry for my english. Now i updated my signature and i try to explain better.
As you know, a temperature gradient provokes a deformation (and/or tension) field.
I want, using workbench, to simulate how motors heat influences deformations and displacements in my CAD model.
actually i'm this situation .
how can i link them in order to obtain my goals? |

Andrea,
On workbench, you have two options:
-- link a structural analysis to a thermal one so the solution from the thermal analysis is used as a load for the structural analysis. This would be a one way coupling but you can do a manual loop by reloading the deformed geometry from the structural analysis and repeating thermo-structural analysis until you can see convergence in you deformation profile.
-- use a command to change your elements to solid226/227 which allows for a direct coupling. You can do this using either the thermal or structural field as a template. The guys at ESS did justice to this method: http://www.esss.com.br/events/ansys2013/brazil/pdf/25_2_1700.pdf
You really should include a signature -- the few lines at the end of your mail that tells your name and company/school you work for--in you next entry.
Good luck.

| Your signature is still missing. You need to tick the "Attach
signature" check box when composing a post.
You need to drag and drop the structural cell onto the thermal call and
then under "Imported load" you can specify one or more time points from
your transient thermal to perform a structural analysis.

I gave two options. The first one doesn't require APDL.
